Organizational Overview:
Synchrony's Risk Team is a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to providing oversight as 2nd Line of Defense. Risk Team oversees and manages the Risk Program in order to support the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues and challenges. Results are consistent with the respective strategic uses and complying with related Overall Risk / Risk Testing policies, standards, procedures as well as regulations. This role is aligned to Enterprise Risk Analytics team. It requires high level of expertise with data & analytics – minimal technical supervision to effectively contribute to projects.
Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP (L10), Enterprise Risk Analytics is primarily responsible for leading Reporting and Analytics within the AML/BSA/OFAC space. This role will also be responsible for becoming a functional expert, while collaborating and building relationships with US stakeholders including VP and SVP levels. The role will report into the Enterprise Risk Analytics Team in India, which rolls up into Synchrony Financial India.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop, lead, collaborate, manage, communicate, and influence data driven solutions and results within the Compliance pillar

Partner with Anti-Money Laundering/Bank Secrecy Act (AML/BSA/OFAC) Compliance team to provide analytical solutions, leading the development of those solutions from end-to-end

Build and maintain visualization dashboards within AML/BSA/OFAC, including but not limited to: Money Laundering Risk Assessment, AML governance & oversight, and AML/BSA training hours

Become a subject matter expert in AML/BSA/OFAC data and an Analytics Athlete that includes end-to-end functional learning, leveraging a variety of data warehouses and applying necessary tools for solutions based on data mining, visualization, automation and machine learning techniques.

Collaborate and engage with all levels of management including Senior Leaders across all sites to drive analytics-based process improvements, insights, thought leadership and actions.

Support Leaders to innovate and re-imagine analytical solutions through value-add thought leadership required to resolve Business gaps, high impact issues and concerns that require regulatory immediate action.

Work directly with SVP's and VP's, while leading the engagements and assessments.

Innovate data driven solutions independently with enterprise-wide customers across both the first and second lines of defense by leveraging the latest analytical tools and technologies; identify areas of improvement across business processes using data.

Engage in storytelling with the data, deliver insights & recommendations to leadership for data-driven decision making; monitor KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate ongoing risk based programs/assessments.

Support analytics needs in other Risk pillars including Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk as needed

Mentor junior team members on topics related to analytics; drive adoption of best practices on the same.

Participate in the Risk Engagement Strategy process that will develop and drive improvements across the Risk Team.

Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of relevant experience
-
4+ years’ hands-on experience with one or more data analytics tools including Python, R, SAS, SQL, SPARK
-
2+ years’ hands-on experience with Tableau or similar Visual Analytics tool such as SAS VIYA
-
Strong written/oral communication skills.

Proven ability to deliver Analytical solutions for Business problems.
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related or Business field.
-
2 Years of experience working with AML/BSA/OFAC data
-
Experience in consumer credit/risk analytics role
-
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, organize workflow, and prioritize work assignments

Experience in Anti-Money Laundering/Bank Secrecy Act.

Exposure to R, Python and Machine learning tools.

Commercially effective and collaborative across teams and functions
-
Intermediate EXCEL skill-set

Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of relevant experience
Work Timings:
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
